How I work

My philosophy is about bringing you the absolute best on health, diet, nutrition and whole-body wellness to help you look good and feel great, keeping it relevant and honest as I go.

Wherever you’re at in mind, body and life, I can help you transform your health and achieve your goals. You’ll learn how to let go of symptoms that are zapping your wellbeing. Excess weight. Fatigue and lethargy. Bloating. Skin problems. Food cravings. Mood swings. Brain fog.

I’ve worked in the health and coaching world for more than 20 years. If you hadn’t already guessed, I have an insatiable passion for helping people optimise their health, love their body and feel good about their life.

Since graduating from the Functional Medicine University and Institute for Integrative Nutrition 7 years ago, I’ve run a myriad of workshops and worked with people, all over the world.

While I talk a lot about food and nutrition, like exercise, it’s an integral part of a healthy lifestyle, but as I’ve discovered neither are enough in their own right.

Feeling that healthy, balanced and energised buzz from within and having a confident, content and intentional glow about life requires working with your mind, body and health, in a profound and meaningful way. My coaching revolves around treating the root cause of any health issue or imbalance. By connecting everything together, I will help you create vibrant health and true happiness.

Why I chose to specialise in health and wellness

Many years ago, I burnt myself out from trying to sustain a full on life – at home, at work, in relationships.. Can you relate to this? Because let’s be honest, the pressure on us to look good, perform in all areas of our lives, and strike some balance is modern day norm. In short, I understand where you’re coming from if you're struggling with your health and wellness right now.

During this difficult period my health and lifestyle took a nose dive. I struggled with energy, concentration, sleep, aches and pains, bloating, nausea, reflux, weight gain and weight loss, as well as the stress my health challenges were having on my everyday life.

Although I recognise the value of conventional medicine, I've never been a fan of taking medication unnecessarily and prefer to treat the root cause of symptoms arising from diet and lifestyle illness. Healing my own body required a holistic approach - one that was customised and unique. And this is how I work with all my clients.

While you might be suffering the same set of symptoms, or grappling with a similar issue in life as a friend, what's causing and preventing you from overcoming your health challenges will be specifically linked to your diet, lifestyle, genetics, beliefs and life events.

How I stay energised and well

Even though I'm not perfect, I practice what I preach. Not only do healthy habits keep you energised and well, making time to nourish your body with nutrient-dense food, self-care activities and quality sleep helps you to stay in touch with how you feel. And listening to what your body is telling you is crucial to maintaining good health and vitality. It's easy for whatever reason, to become unaware of, or switch off to subtle warning signs and symptoms from your body, until it reaches breaking point. I've been there, and I want to help you avoid going there too.

If I suspect that something is amiss with my body, or I want to track health changes I sometimes run appropriate tests to identify potential issues or improvements. This takes the guesswork out of what's really going on inside, and helps me to maintain optimal health. It's like taking my car to the garage when it's not running well for them to perform tests, identify the problem and fix the cause rather than work on the symptoms.

Nicola Monson is an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner, Emotional Freedom Technique Practitioner and qualified Pain & Stress Management Therapist who inspires, educates and coaches people on the what, why and how to living a healthier and happier life.  

Nicola obtained her Certificate in Health Coaching from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (the world's largest nutrition school), where she studied more than 100 different dietary theories. She received her Certificate in Functional Medicine from the Functional Medicine University (a leader in functional medicine diagnostic training). And obtained her certificate levels 1 & 2 in Emotional Freedom Technique from the founding EFT Master, Karl Dawson.

Nicola is a member of the International Association for Health Coaches and having worked for 7 years at the world's leading professional body for HR and people development, actually providing employers with the information they need to create better working lives, she is also well qualified to run corporate wellness programmes. 

Feeling energised and staying well is key to living an abundant and happy life.
